Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in software project management and a passion for open-source development. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of how Godot functions as a project, including its development workflows and community-driven nature. This role is crucial in ensuring that contractors and contributors are effectively managed, remain unblocked, and align their efforts to complete our roadmap objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Software Development Projects: Manage and track progress across multiple development efforts related to the Godot Engine.
- Contractor Coordination: Ensure that hired developers are on track, resolve roadblocks, and provide structured guidance to keep projects moving forward.
- Roadmap Alignment: Work closely with leadership to ensure all efforts contribute to the completion of key roadmap milestones.
- Process Implementation: Apply project management methodologies to keep development organized, ensuring smooth collaboration and productivity.
- Communication & Reporting: Maintain transparency by providing regular updates on project progress, potential risks, and key accomplishments.
Requirements
- Experience in software project management, preferably in open-source or game development projects.
- Familiarity with the Godot Engine, its community, and open-source development workflows.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, capable of ensuring that contractors deliver their work effectively.
- Ability to apply project management methodologies to structure and track development.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate between different stakeholders, developers, and the community.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in game engine development or related software projects.
- Background in software engineering to better understand technical requirements.
- Prior experience in managing community-driven projects.
Budget
The budget for this position is €35,000 - €60,000 per year with position in the range dependent on years of relevant experience. The Foundation is seeking someone with availability to work 40 hours per week, but is willing to accommodate for the right candidate.
This is a remote position as contractor, candidates must have the ability to work as an independent contractor in their country of residence. The Godot Foundation is based in the Netherlands.
